17 West Street, Helen Street, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 5BL Telephone: 01235 533281 www.rosiestearoom.co.uk Abingdon or archaically Abingdon-on-Thames is a market town and civil parish in Oxfordshire, England. It is the seat of the Vale of White Horse district. Previously the county town of Berkshire, Abingdon is one of several places that claim to be Britain's oldest continuously occupied town, with people having lived there for at least 6,000 years. It was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire.
I visited this tea room, I was welcomed by the noise of squeaky floors, lovely old beamed ceilings, brick fireplace with lights. Pine tables and chairs make Rosie's Tea Room a cosy and inviting place to be with the sound of light piano music in the background.
Tea room menu included; sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, savoury flans, soup, baked potatoes, cheesy crumpets, fruit and cheese scones and a selection of cakes on display and a cake board. There was also a special board of home-made mushroom soup, and home-made pan salmon and broccoli was also offered.
I had cheesy crumpets and a pot of tea. The old china cup and saucer with crumpets reminded me of my regular visits to my grandmother's home in Ramsgate when I was a child.
Waitress was slow to take the order and had to be prompted twice. However, I can still recommend this tea room, which nice and very cosy, but car parking can be a little difficult.
