Viewers to this website will know that I make frequent references to Miss Mollet's High Class Tea Room in Appledore between Ashford and Tenterden and I make no apology for doing so!

This tea room was originally opened by sisters, Alexandra and Frances are lovely people who really do know how to present and run an English Tea Room of the highest standard. However, Francis has recently retired, but the tea room is still being run by Alexandra and members of her family.

I visited the premises for years when it was known as 'High Class Junk' and a bargain or two could be found there. Nowadays, it is a tea room and how very pleased I am that it is..!

People laugh at me, particularly children, when I they ask me what my favourite colour is. When I tell them that it is pink, they don't believe me. Well, it is and I don't care what people think.

Miss Mollett's is decorated with pink walls and tea related crafts are on sale there. Tables have lovely traditional style table cloths and the bone china tea cups are already on the table awaiting for the tea to be poured inside. Little traditional spoons are used and the feel really is a special one. Outside seating is also offered and is a delight and you are sitting outside looking at this quaint little village. Time just passes away...

I tend to visit Miss Mollett's on Wednesday's between 3 and 3.30pm which is not a good time really, as I have a toasted teacake, homemade jam and a pot of tea of course, but I can't stay long as I have to drive to Canterbury to teach a class of adults (karate), early evening, so occasional visits at the weekend for lunch is lovely. Incidentally, Miss Mollett's also provide a top up water pot alongside your pot of tea which is rare in a Kentish tea room.

Pies, salads, quiche, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel all home-made are on the menu, as are a selection of cakes. Specialist teas are also offered to the delight of Sandra.

I can highly recommend this English Tea Room. Plenty of free parking at the rear of the village hall, only a few steps away from Miss Mollett's.
