A QUAINT ESCAPE: THE INVITING CHARM OF CHURCH LANE TEA ROOM

Church Lane Tea Room offers a charming and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for both brunch and lunch enthusiasts.

Nestled in a unique setting in view of the nearby church and opposite the police station, the tea room presents a thoughtfully curated menu that combines affordability with quality, ensuring guests can enjoy a delightful meal without straining their budgets.

While diners should be aware of the 10% service charge added to their bill, this is mitigated by the competitively priced offerings available, ranging from freshly prepared sandwiches which is baked by their own 50:50 flatbread, to soup, flan and pie alongside a selection afternoon teas and beverages.

I relished the salmon and cream cheese sandwich. I asked the chef to toast it, but he said it wasn't possible due to cross-contamination. This is the first time in 45 years that I have encountered such a situation in an English tea room. It would have been my expectation that the bread would be toasted prior to adding the ingredients thereafter. However, it is unjust to express dissatisfaction, as each chef has their own unique approach to food preparation.

Additionally, I relished a plain and fruit scone with butter. I have discontinued my consumption of jam and cream for health reasons. Despite the scones being smaller than my usual size, they were exceptionally fresh and delicious. It would have been effortless to consume two additional scones..!

The quaint unusual decor enhances the overall dining experience, providing a cosy backdrop for social gatherings or leisurely meals. Moreover, the attentive staff contributes to the establishment's warm ambiance, ensuring that every visit is marked by hospitable service and culinary satisfaction.

Church Lane Tea Room truly embodies the essence of comfort dining in an unusual setting and I enjoyed sitting on a church pew whilst enjoying the food and tea..!

At Church Lane Tea Room, they brew more than just tea; they cultivate cherished memories in a haven of comfort and joy.

English tea room rating: Recommended.
ABOUT SEAFORD

Seaford is a town in East Sussex east of Newhaven.

Seaford, a municipality with a colourful history, is a genteel community. It was once a prosperous port, obtaining Cinque Port privileges as a limb of Hastings. Smuggling and shipwrecking were prevalent, with wreckers earning the moniker "Seaford Shags". Seaford is in a picturesque location, overlooking the expansive Seaford Bay underneath the distinctive chalk landmark of Seaford Head.
Seaford beach is an ideal destination for a quick game of stones or a refreshing breath of sea air, as it is conveniently located near cafés and shops and a brief walk from Seaford train station. The beachfront is pure seaside enjoyment, dotted with brightly painted beach huts and a few seafront cafés.
