CHARMING RETREAT: DISCOVERING LITTLE COTTAGE TEA ROOM IN GLYNDE

Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Glynde, East Sussex, the Little Cottage Tea Room offers a quintessentially English experience characterised by its charming allure and simplistic yet delightful menu.

This quaint establishment stands as a testament to rural elegance, providing customers with an intimate retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

The tea room's unassuming exterior belies its inviting interior, which is imbued with an air of nostalgia reminiscent of simpler times.

Guests are warmly welcomed to indulge in a modest selection of homemade scones, cakes, savoury food and freshly brewed teas, crafted with care and precision.

Joanne (Balarkas) Grogan, the proprietor, served me as the first customer of the day at 11am. I ordered a cheese scone and a decaf pot of tea, and I thoroughly relished it. Joanne informed me that she has been operating this tea room for a decade, and it has a lovely feel to it and has a lovely tea garden as well. It is adjacent to the post office and stores jointly owned by Joanne.

The cosy atmosphere fosters an environment where visitors can savour both their refreshments and the tranquil beauty surrounding them. As such, Little Cottage Tea Room is not just a dining destination but rather an experience that encapsulates the essence of English charm amidst the natural splendour of East Sussex.

To Joanne and The Little Cottage Tea Room: May your teapots always overflow with joy and your future be as bright as the finest blend. Here’s to a decade of delightful moments and many more to come..!

ABOUT GLYNDE

In the Lewes District of East Sussex,
Glynde is a village that is part of the civil parish of Beddingham. It is situated two miles (5 km) east of Lewes.

The term 'glind' is derived from the Old Saxon term for an enclosure. The village is a charming hamlet in the shadow of Mount Caburn. Glynde Place, a majestic Elizabethan manor, has been the residence of the Trevor family for more than 300 years and is located in Glynde.

The Italianate church, constructed in 1763 by Richard Trevor, Bishop of Durham, on the foundations of an older mediaeval parish church, is situated across from the entrances to Glynde Place.

Southdown sheep were initially produced in Glynde. John Ellman, an 18th-century farmer, conducted breeding experiments that resulted in the creation of the strain that is now ubiquitous worldwide.
In addition, Glyndebourne, a Tudor manor house, is situated in Glynde. It is the renowned home of English opera. Glyndebourne Opera House was inaugurated by John Christie in 1934, marking the beginning of an operatic excellence program that has attracted visitors from all over the world.
